Sudden death of one of our Colleagues

It gives us considerable sadness to report the sudden death in the South of France of one of our colleagues, Peter Gignoux.
Peter was a fount of knowledge on the oil industry, having tracked it closely for most of his career. Notwithstanding his American origins Peter was without doubt an honorary European, having spent most of his life in our part of the world. Speaking personally, I knew Peter from the mid 1990s onwards at the International Petroleum Exchange, of which he was a strong supporter. It was thanks to the efforts of Peter and many colleagues like him that the IPE’s Brent contract became such a successful international benchmark for the oil price.
As a colleague in Bourse Consult for the last several years he combined a keen interest in the success of our venture with a deep knowledge of French wines and a love of good living. As an avid sailor and globetrotter (he had just returned from a Christmas holiday in Thailand) we all thought that he would go on forever.
It will be difficult to think of a world without Peter – we shall all miss him deeply.
